Collectors edition from Avex Entertainment from the year of 2021. 4 four-layer discs (DVD9), each containing one episode, NTSC. Two audio tracks - English and, imagine that, a Japanese one. On eBay used copy costed at 131$, excluding delivery cost, which makes it one of the most expensive DVD releases of Lexx as of today.
Four thin DVD boxes packaged in a heavy case made out of firm cardboard with a beautiful gloss poligraphy. On the box there is an "obi" - a paper sticker with additional info on the release written in Japanese. Despite this release being modern, on the back of the box there is a link to lexx.com for whatever reason, which is inoperational since 2008. Inside, as a bonus, is a colored booklet of 14 pages, telling about the story, actors and making of the show, written in Japanese as well.
There is the pdf.
No censorship. This is the second version of pilot episodes with better graphics in the bridge scene.
High quality, but sharpness is lacking compared to Canadian release by Koch Vision (2000, NTSC).
Pros: fine looking menu. Thanks to disc's large capacity the image is not blocky nor gritty from the DVD compression. In the dark scenes much more details are visible compared to other releases: see the side-by-side comparison of this release and the release of Koch Vision - in the Japanese one you could see clothing structure and other things, whilst in the latter one only shadows and blocky outlines.
Cons: not only discs have a copy protection, but are also of region 2, because of which in our countries these discs can't be played without specific copying procedure with the protection removal. Also, the image is positioned down by 2 pixels.
As a bonus is a Japanese VHS trailer, 4 "Extra stuff" videos (same as those by MediumRare Entertainment and E1 Entertainment from the English editions) and few sketch photos in a video format.
